Uber is a global ridesharing company that offers a range of services to its customers, such as peer-to-peer ridesharing, ride hailing services, food delivery and different micromobility services like bikes and scooters for rent. More recently, Uber decided to enter the urban aviation market and begin offering Uber Copters as an option for customers. The helicopters are operated by its partner, HeliFlite, a licensed FAA/DOT carrier. Uber insists safety is its top priority, providing that HeliFlite has acquired ARGUS Platinum and Wyvern Wingman safety ratings. The helicopters are also dually piloted and operated with a Safety Management System, which uses trend analysis and hazard reporting for accident prevention. For its trial run, Uber offered helicopter services for those travelling between the Manhattan or Brooklyn areas and JFK International Airport. However, the company insists this is just the first step towards the future of urban air mobility.
