The whole concept of having a job interview has changed tremendously over the past couple of decades. Video interviews aren’t anything new, although not many job candidates enjoy them. There are several reasons for not liking video job interviews. Some potential employees fear that the room setting would not allow them to shine and it would portray them as unprofessional. Another reason why these interviews aren’t welcomed with enthusiasm is the potentially problematic internet connection, which can cause interruptions and spoil the flow. Every candidate wants to leave a good professional impression, however frozen screens and wi-fi glitches may diminish this impression. Also, sometimes we might experience technical difficulties, such as bad sound, black screen, etc. Finally, we can’t rely on body language for maintaining non-verbal communication, which might mean that we can easily misinterpret the gestures and the facial expressions of the person on the other side.
