SQ3D is a 3D printer manufacturing and service company that also developed SQ4D, a firm focused on revolutionizing the housing and construction industries. SQ4D utilizes its Autonomous Robotic Construction System (ARCS) to 3D print houses but can also print things like roads, bridges, and commercial buildings. Recently, the company 3D printed the largest permitted home in the world (1,900 square feet). Total construction took a mere 48 print hours over a span of eight days and cost less than $6,000. Even more impressive than the 70% reduction in time and costs was the system’s ability to eliminate twenty manual labor jobs, including tasks such as siding, framing, and sheathing. Ultimately, the project required only three laborers. SQ4D’s 3D printed houses are mold and fire resistant and can also withstand severe weather. In the future, SQ4D anticipates that houses will be printed in half the time.
