M: Good evening Ms. Smith. This is Paul with the Mission Shelter. We feed and house approximately 20,000 homeless people each year, and I'm calling to ask for your support. I see that you donated $25 last year. Can we count on the same contribution from you this time?
W: Well, I'm not sure. I know you all do good work, but we're a little hard up this year, with the economy and all.
M: I understand. It's been tough for everyone. I don't want you to do anything you're not comfortable with, but any gift would help. Remember, it is tax-deductable.
W: Yes, I know that. Um, OK, why don't you put me down for $10? Next year, I'll try to do better.
