The term electronic sports, or esports, is used to refer to competitive video gaming that has its audience. There are large sporting events which are held in arenas, such as the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The term esports is used as a blanket term which covers different genres and different games, such as Counter-Strike, or the League of Legends. Big streaming platforms have helped esports gain thousands of spectators and become popular. One of these platforms is Twitch, which has steered esports into the mainstream. The increased number of spectators has opened numerous advertising possibilities. Brands have started to give serious attention to esports due to a number of 600 million potential consumers on a global scale. This means that in the next few years, many notable brands would offer sponsorships to eplayers.
