As a valued Perryville Gas & Electric (PGE) customer, we strive to keep you apprised with all of the pertinent information regarding incentives and potential credits for installing a solar generating system on your home. Opportunities at your disposal:
Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC)
The City of Perryville offers its residents SRECs in order to finance and invest in solar energy systems for their homes. These SRECs are created for each 1000 kWh of energy produced by a qualified alternative energy source. The value of SRECs are measured at $/1MWh* (1MWh = 1000 kWh).
Federal Income Tax Credit
Taxpayers can claim a Federal Income Tax Credit (FITC) of 25% on qualified expenditures on solar energy systems that provide electricity to their residences.
PGE Net Metering Credit
Net metering means you are charged only for the net amount of energy you use during each billing period. To calculate net energy used, we take the amount of energy we deliver to you and deduct the excess amount you send back to the smart grid. If you send more energy to the grid than we deliver, you can receive credits on your bill.
*SRECs are bought and sold on the open market and are priced based on supply and demand.
