What does TOEIC mean?

Dear friend,
Today is an important day because you are receiving your English email lesson number 25 and I'd like to introduce you to something new. Or maybe you already have heard about the TOEIC -- the Test Of English for International Communication? The TOEIC test is the most widely used English exam in the international business world. Now, I know you might not be too excited about tests and exams as most of them are so called 'pass/fail tests'. This means, you can either pass or fail the exam. If you pass the exam, you will get a certificate. If you fail it, you will get nothing. The TOEIC test is different: Nobody fails the TOEIC test -- everybody who takes the exam also passes it. Of course everybody gets a different score. If your English is very good, your TOEIC score will be higher than 850 points while intermediate students usually achieve between 550 and 700 points. A lot of TOEIC test candidates have told me that they are looking for an effective way of learning all the words they need to know to achieve a good TOEIC score. As you know, different people have different learning methods so you should try out a variety of learning activities and ideas to see what works best for you. Since the TOEIC test consists of a listening as well as a reading section, you should also practise your listening skills. That's why Sue has recorded an audio text containing sample sentences with "doesn't" and "don't". I'm sure you already know how to make negative sentences in the present simple but a little review and practice always comes in handy, doesn't it? Here is your audio session: Don't, doesn't.
