Science fiction has inspired the idea that one day, people might be able to teleport. Imagine being able to avoid the boredom of that long haul flight or drive. Instead, you could just hop in a teleportation machine one second, and arrive at your destination the next. But could it ever be possible? After all, humans have figured out fire, electricity, supercomputers, the internet, flight, and even space travel. Often, if we can imagine something, we can develop the technology to do it over time. But unfortunately, it seems that teleportation will never be an option for us, simply because of physics. Physics allows us to fly to the moon and all explore the universe, but it also prevents us from teleportation. Nothing made of matter can travel at the speed of light, so even if we could physically teleport, it would still take considerable time to arrive at your destination. Regardless of time, it’s a proven law of physics that matter can not pass through other materials, like we would be expected to when teleporting. Simply put, teleportation demands that we can bypass the laws of space, and there’s about a 0% chance of that happening. For now, we’ll have to leave teleportation to the imagination.
