Currently, there has been a surge of new robot technologies being used in the medical profession. Robotics can help improve surgical procedures by lessening the invasiveness and, ultimately, the recovery time for patients. But robots aren’t exactly replacing surgeons, who still need to control the robots with a remote console. Still, surgeons are not discouraged by the fact that robots are now operating on their patients instead of them. Rather, they have reported numerous benefits to using the technology: increased magnification, 3D, HD vision, 360 degree movement and 7 degrees of freedom. Surgeons can also plan a surgery virtually, which essentially personalizes the procedure specifically for the patient and gives everyone an opportunity to see the likely outcome of the surgery. Robotic surgeries are reportedly less stressful, more effective than open surgeries and expected to be used much more in hospitals moving forward.
