How to prepare for the TOEFL or TOEIC test?

by Torsten Daerr

Dear Friend,

You probably remember that I asked you how good your English is. Maybe you have answered that question on our forums. Maybe you haven't. But every day, students ask me to send them more advanced tests and materials. Friend, if you find the exercises and questions I have been sending you too simple, you can always try more difficult ones– on our site you will find thousands of tests for intermediate and advanced learners.

And if you are really interested in finding out your exact level of English, you need to take an internationally-recognized English language exam, of which there are a dozen or so. For example, you can sit one of the Cambridge Exams or take an LCCI test or register for the IELTS. However, of the many different English language tests, there are two that pretty much set the standard in the world of ESL (English as a Second Language). These two tests are the TOEIC and the TOEFL, and you can learn all the details about them on our site. What's more, you will find the largest collection of free TOEFL- and TOEIC-based listening comprehension questions on our site.

Friend, did you know that at English-test.net you can spend several hours listening to TOEFL- and TOEIC-based recordings and answering comprehension questions? It's the only site worldwide that gives you access to such a variety of interactive audio (MP3) exercises. All the exercises are written and recorded by experienced English language professionals from the USA or Great Britain. Moreover, you can meet the creators of the materials to ask them questions and get advice on how to prepare for the TOEIC or TOEFL. Where and how can you meet them? On the forums, of course! Our chief audio recording specialist is Tom Kane from Pennsylvania. Tom and his team of speakers have recorded several hours of TOEIC- and TOEFL-based listening materials just for you, Friend. If you want to contact Tom directly, simply listen to this.

Here are the listening comprehension tests for the TOEIC test:
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and part 4.

There are thousands of TOEIC-based listening comprehension questions on our site, and I recommend that you complete at least 3 of them each day. If you are interested in even more advanced listening materials, you should try our TOEFL-based exercises.

You can use the navigation panel on the left side of that page to move from one exercise to the next. To keep track of all your listening comprehension activities, you should use our free progress report system. For more information on this feature, please follow this forum thread: Progress report (Top 100)?

As you know, you can also use our forum to practice the speaking section of the TOEFL test. Many TOEFL candidates have been using this free tool, and you can do so too. It helps you practice and improve your pronunciation and intonation, and it will also boost your self-confidence. For example, one of our TOEFL candidates is discussing the question 'How do you feel before the TOEFL exam?' on the forum.

So Friend, I look forward to hearing your voice on the forum!
